Here's Life Inner City - Detroit, Michigan

On January 29, 2007, Kevin Thompson, VP of AGO, Wendy Branson, AGO’s Chief Administrator, and Brandon Mata, Media Specialist, visited Here’s Life Inner City in Detroit, Michigan following a $6,000 donation on behalf of AGO.

Here’s Life Inner City was founded in 1983 is parented by the organization Campus Crusade for Christ and currently has 15 HLIC locations across the country with numerous partnerships among various churches. HLIC promotes the “Circle of Hope”:

Connecting:
We provide relief products to help partner ministries connect with those in need. The outreaches which connect us to the poor include giving clothing and blankets to the homeless, getting new shoes so needy children can go back to school, providing holiday meals for individual families, and much more.

Empowering:
We offer training, manpower, and other resources to help churches minister to men, women, and children in need.

Developing:
Our developmental programs help equip inner-city churches to bring deep and lasting transformation to their neighborhoods.

In addition to the “Circle of Hope” programs, HLIC has a rapidly growing youth program called S.A.Y. Yes! Program. S.A.Y. Yes! is the biblically-based after-school program that Here’s Life has developed for inner-city churches and stands for “save our youth”. To learn more about the S.A.Y. Yes Program, visit www.sayyescenters.org.

The S.A.Y. Yes! City Coordinator for Detroit is Reverend Joy Davis. Reverend Joy is a very passionate advocate for ministering to youth and dedicates herself to these programs whole heartedly. Additionally, among the 25 Detroit Public Schools, Joy teaches and mentors children on abstinence, understanding and the benefits of living for Christ.

The Detroit branch of HLIC is located in a Detroit based tabernacle and is directed by Reverend Terry Robinson. Rev. Terry has dedicated himself to this evolving ministry for over 29 years. He is attentive to the underemployment and lack of required skills for inner city families and is bringing empowerment programs to Detroit beginning in April of 2008. These programs will focus on computer skills, interviewing skills, money management, job training and more.
